Never Look into the Eyes

Description

I was thinking about how most art and media tend to make angels looks like people with wings or little fat babies with harps- but angels described in the Bible look anything but that. Angels were actually quite different and sometimes terrifying, just Google Cherubim and Seraphim. Even the demons were unique looking and they were once angels. So for fun I made my own angel concept greatly inspired by the angels in the Bible, plus adding my own twist to it. This holy creature keeps its eyes closed at all times and its wings covering his face out of respect to its Lord. He's massive and size and has many wings. If angered he will reveal his bright red face and open his eyes, which causes instant death.

Hey, I've never written a critique before but I hope I can be helpful:

I think all in all this is a really great digital painting, anyway I am gonna list a few things which I think could be changed:

I really like the black shadow in the foreground left bottom corner, anyway it seems a bit cartoony in comparision to the more realistic main part of the picture. also, the black shadow makes me expect the light source to be much brighter (like quite a lot of white). Also, the head of the monster seems to be quite far up in your picture, so to underline the perspective you might want to use less detail up there and maybe even hide it a bit in some foggy-blueish mist. Adding onto this you could add more detail to the part of the monster that is further down. (like finer hair in the furry part a.s.o.)
a general advise might be to play with different structures and how they act in light, for example I reckon the middle part of the monster is some sort of slimy and might reflect light in a different way.

Keep up the good work! <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>
