Scorpion Tailed Hawks are a large sized birds of prey with excellent eyesight and hunting skills. They get their name from their unique tails that resemble a scorpions. The tail is very flexible, able to strike out above or below the hawk, making it a great tool for hunting as well as defense. At the end of the tail are two stingers, both able to inject a deadly neurotoxin into its prey. If a healthy adult is stung and untreated the venom can be lethal. Being birds of prey, these hawks feed on mainly smaller birds, rodents, smaller mammals, and fish. They swoop down at their prey and in one swift motion they quickly strike the prey down with their tail and pick it up with the hook like end.Although the venomous tail and appearance of this bird is intimidating, these birds rarely sting humans unless provoked. Some warriors even train these birds, using them as assassins with their silent and quick wings and their deadly tail. They can be very loyal to their trainers and even have a deep bond with them. There are old tales of warriors dying in battle and out of sorrow and rage their hawk relentlessly attack the murderer until the killer is dead or the hawk itself.
